MARK Tookey will take some experience with him when his 18-man Queensland Universities Residents squad tries to unseat their NSW counterparts next month.

Tookey has chosen five players from the 2013 Queensland Universities Residents team that took down NSW Universities Residents in the interstate match played on a tour of Tonga last October.

2013 captain Kurt Dobbin, Mitch Chad, Taniela Ilingana, Ellis Jensen and Alex Wharton were all part of the team that toured the Pacific island last year and played the Tongan Residents side in a the final of the tournament in Nuku’alofa.

This year the surrounds will be different, with the universities residents’ teams to clash in Coffs Harbour on Saturday July 12.

Former Eels and Warriors prop Tookey, who also played for the elite Queensland Universities team, should make special use of Ilingana.

A handy utility, Ilingana has already represented the elite Queensland Universities team in their 46-6 win over NSW at Suncorp Stadium in May.

The team, which has been chosen from the Universities Rugby League Queensland competition, will train once a week until the game before having a three-day camp before the match.
