Coach Mentoring Programs
Queensland Rugby League has designed this framework to provide aspiring coaches across Queensland with an understanding of the broad range of capabilities elite coaches possess across rugby league.
The Coach Capability Framework sits below.
RISE
Coaches who are successful in their application to join their local RISE program will be provided access to learning and development through:
- Two online modules
- A full-day development workshop
- Practical coaching experience as a coach in the RISE rugby league development program
Statewide competitions
Coaches within the Cyril Connell Challenge, Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup and Harvey Norman Under 19 competitions will have access to:
- Personal reflection and coaching goals tools
- Coach development seminars and online resources
- Personal mentoring from the QRL pathway coaching panel
Personal development programs
Pathways coach program
- An annual program designed for coaches who have excelled within underage statewide competitions and want to take their coaching to the next level
- Group size of 15 coaches
- Immersive development experience delivered during the QRL's Under 17 City v Country representative week
- One-to-one guided reflection and goal-setting
- Course length: three-day camp and self-guided pre-camp exercises
Head coach program
- A six-month program designed for current Intrust Super Cup and BHP premiership head coaches
- Group size of 6-8
- Personalised experiences developing a coaches strategic leadership capabilities both on and off the field
- Course length: Six days that provides access to mentors and learnings designed to focus on (one to two days per month commitment)
