Round 23 Team of the Week: Milford sends finals warning shot

The importance of Round 23 was evident across the competition.

Teams were playing for their place in this year's finals and the desire to lock in home finals or finish the regular season on a high note was clear.

Sunshine Coast Falcons stood up against Norths Devils to retain their place in the top four, with Lazarus Vaalepu and the spine starring.

For Northern Pride, it was about finishing the season without breaking their winning streak and Kyle Schneider, Dane Aukafolau, Tom Duffy and Dantoray Lui delivered.

And for Central Queensland Capras, Anthony Milford produced a stunning effort to ensure his side would play finals this year, picking up Team of the Week captaincy honours along the way.

Each round, Queensland Rugby League recognises the 17 best performers and names the Hostplus Cup Team of the Week, presented by Hostplus. These team selections are based not only on statistical data, but also take on board live and broadcast viewings of the games.

Round 23 Team of the Week

1. Blake Moore - Central Queensland Capras

The Central Queensland No.1 was firing on all cylinders against the Tweed Seagulls on Saturday. Working strongly with five-eighth Anthony Milford, Moore bagged a hat-trick to lock in a week one home final for his team. It was a strong week for fullbacks across the competition with the likes of Trai Fuller (Redcliffe), Zac Miles (Sunshine Coast), Matt Milson (Wynnum Manly), Radean Robinson (Souths Logan), Tahj Wood (Brisbane) and Jaylan De Groot (Ipswich) also starring.

2. Sione Hopoate – Wynnum Manly Seagulls

It wasn't the result the Seagulls were hoping for on Sunday, but Hopoate was a shining light on a tough day at BMD Kougari Oval. As well as bagging one try in the 20th minute, the winger ran for 184 metres with five tackle breaks and one line break.
