A clinical and classy Queensland Under 17 City dominated their Country counterparts, in a stunning display at Totally Workwear Stadium on Saturday.
With their foot on the accelerator from the moment they stepped onto the field, City - captained by Shalom Sauaso - ran in 12 tries to one to claim the 60-6 victory.
Classy halfback Lilianah Lewis was named player of the match for her efforts. The young playmaker steered the ship strongly in an attacking masterclass, showing impressive game management and awareness.
But coach Ana Fotu said it took every player in a City jersey to get the win, with their entire team playing their part off the back of the strong bonds built in camp.
"The entire team... without the 18 you wouldn't be able to do that performance," she said.
"It was just the unity. With the build up leading to this game and the camp, they just connected and got stronger and stronger. They were able to transition that onto the field today.
"We just stripped all the footy back and focused on getting to know each other and connecting and being able to know the person next them.
"They ended up just being a family."
City made their intent obvious from the opening stages, with prop Lishainah Ulugia crossing in the 2nd minute.
From here the onslaught began, with another six tries scored in 22 minutes, with City heavily dominating down their left edge.
Lewis was key to this while fullback Torah Luadaka also picked her moments well, chiming in with ease.
But Fotu said Lewis and Sauaso spoke up at half-time to encourage the team to share the ball around more so the right side could also revel in the dominant win.
"Her (Lewis) and Shalom at halftime, they actually spoke about sharing the ball around to let the whole team be involved," she said.
"They did recognise it was going to the left side a bit more so they stood back a bit and asked for it to be delivered to the right so everyone was playing.
"That whole relationship and that feeling that we've got, they felt for their family on the right side and wanted them to feel how the left were feeling."
