QRL Community Volunteer Awards nominations open for 2024

Queensland Rugby League is today calling for nominations for the 2024 Community Volunteer Awards - the ultimate recognition for the volunteers who make community rugby league possible.

The 2024 awards will highlight the efforts of volunteers across eight categories, celebrating coaches, administrators, officials and those who champion the game in Indigenous communities, female rugby league and wellbeing initiatives.

Anyone who wishes to nominate a deserving volunteer for an award can do so via the nomination form located here prior to March 31, 2024.

“The Community Volunteer Awards is one of the ways the QRL recognises the vital work our volunteers do in the community to make sure all rugby league participants have a fun and safe experience," QRL general manager of community rugby league Adam Vanzanten said.

“We have more than 18,000 registered volunteers across the state and the 370 community clubs and associations that wouldn’t survive without them and thrive because of them.

“Volunteers in sport and recreation spend on average 14 hours per week in the service of others, but we know many in rugby league go above and beyond and make incredible sacrifices in their own lives just to help someone else fall in love with the game.

“We encourage everyone involved in rugby league to take advantage of this opportunity to thank and recognise the volunteers who stand out with their efforts to foster healthy community clubs and leagues.

“Whether you’re nominating someone who has just put their hand up or a long-serving volunteer who has recently stepped away from the game, every detail you provide matters in helping our judging panel in what will be a rigorous selection process.

“We know rugby league volunteers are a special breed and we’ll be making sure our QRL award winners are put forward for further recognition with the NRL and other organisations who celebrate the wonderful efforts of volunteers across the nation.

“Any recognition goes a long way, so please take the time to nominate a worthy volunteer today.”

The Community Volunteer Awards form an important part of QRL’s commitment to upholding the national standards for volunteer recognition.

The winner of each category, listed below, will be treated to an unforgettable State of Origin experience, including travel to Brisbane, accommodation and two tickets to Game III at Suncorp Stadium.
