XXXX 47th Battalion: Everything you need to know

Teams from Queensland Rugby League's Central region are descending on Emerald this weekend for the XXXX 47th Battalion carnival.
The competition was born 52 years ago as an ode to those who served in what was unofficially known as the "Wide Bay Regiment" that served in World War II.
The 47th Battalion Memorial Trophy was donated by veteran Peter Marcellos in 1971 to commemorate those he served alongside.
Eight men's teams and six women's team will this year battle it out over two days on two fields at Alan McIndoe Oval, named for the nine-game Queensland State of Origin winger.
Toowoomba Clydesdales are shooting for three consecutive titles in the women's division, while Rockhampton Rustlers will be staunch in their defence of the men's title.
This year the men's winner will host the semi-final of the XXXX League Championship against the winner of the South East region's XXXX Chairman's Challenge carnival to earn the right to challenge the winner of the North region's XXXX Foley Shield carnival.
