Wheelaroos primed for showdown for World Cup semi-final berth

Skyring Wheelaroos coach Brett Clark has named his side for their third match of the World Cup against Spain at London's Copper Box Arena.

The clash will decide which team advances to the semi-finals in Sheffield after Australia's 76-18 defeat of Ireland last Sunday.

Spain beat Ireland 55-32 in their opening match of the tournament, with both teams having lost to England.

“The team is focused on using the momentum from our game against Ireland to give another strong performance," Clark said.

"Spain is a quality outfit, and I know this will be the game of the round, given both teams are looking to advance in the tournament."

Bayley McKenna and captain Brad Grove both registered hat-tricks against Ireland as the Wheelaroos pulled away after tries from Phil Roberts and James McCarthy had threatened to keep the game tight.

Australia had seven different try scorers, with Liam Luff scoring and Diab Karim scoring two each. Karim also finished with three try assists.
