It has been three years since the last NRL State Championship was played, but it will return to grand final day this year with a clash between the Norths Devils and Penrith Panthers.
Norths, who claimed Saturday's Hostplus Cup grand final 16-10 over the Redcliffe Dolphins, will travel south to take on Penrith, after they triumphed in the NSW Cup decider.
Burleigh was the last Queensland side to play on NRL grand final day back in 2019, when they lost 20-16 to Newtown on fulltime.
COVID-19 has kept the fixture from returning over the past two seasons, but now Norths - who were also 2021 Hostplus Cup champions - will have their chance to star on the big stage, opening NRL grand final day with a 12.20pm kick-off.
