The Central Queensland Capras and Townsville Blackhawks won their way through to the preliminary finals after posting victories in Week 1 of the Hastings Deering Colts finals series.
In Browne Park in Rockhampton, it was a close end to the match with Blake Moore crossing late for the Seagulls to bring them within a whisker of home side the Capras, but it wasn't enough for the minor premiers to win through.
If they are to go back-to-back this year, they will again have to do it the hard way after losing their opening week finals match last year.
