Queensland Murri Carnival dates locked in

The Arthur Beetson Foundation Queensland Murri Carnival will take place next month at Moreton Daily Stadium, with plenty of exciting football on the cards.

There is a new development this year, with the carnival allocating an event ambassador for only the second time in its history, with Gold Coast Titans, Queensland Maroons and Australian Kangaroos backrower David Fifita coming on board.

Fifita - who played in the carnival and captained the Queensland Under 16 Murri representative team - follows in the footsteps of Beetson, who fulfilled the ambassador role at the inaugural 2011 event.

"Being a young fella out of Inala playing in the Murri Carnival at Redcliffe when I was 15 years old, I think it was just a really big opportunity there and I think that's where I first came onto the scene as a young fella and got put in the eyes of some clubs," Fifita said

"I'm really grateful for this opportunity and I can't wait to represent the Arthur Beetson Foundation and moving forward, representing myself and my family."

Kicking off on Tuesday, September 27 and running through to Sunday, October 2, the annual tournament will expand its rugby league pathways to include all underage divisions.

Junior grades will contest for Queensland Merit Team honours, following a ‘possibles versus probables’ selection format.
