The Queensland Rugby League wish to join with the PNG Hunters in expressing condolences to the family, friends and teammates of former player Tiger Emere.
Hunter #20 Emere was a part of the club's inaugural season, debuting in Round 4, March 22 in 2014, in the match against Northern Pride played at Kalabond Oval, East New Britain.
Former PNG Hunters coach Michael Marum - who was at the helm of the side from 2014 to 2019 - also expressed his condolences and told The National that Emere was "a tough competitor".
“Tiger Emere was a great kid when he joined the Hunters during our pre-season camp,” Marum said of Emere, who was the reigning Digicel Cup prop of the year for his performances with Waghi Tumbe.
“He always had a smile. He was a tough competitor who could play multiple positions like centre, second row, prop and lock.
“He will be sadly missed by the rugby league family, including fans. Condolences to his immediate family.”
