Super Saturday grand final schedule confirmed

A ‘Super Saturday’ will close out another enthralling Hostplus Cup season, with the Queensland Rugby League today confirming an attractive four-match grand final day schedule.

Already one of the premier events on the Queensland league calendar, this year’s match-day program will go to a new level on the Saturday afternoon of September 24.

Headlining the action at Moreton Daily Stadium is the Hostplus Cup grand final, with the highly-anticipated 3.15pm match to be broadcast live on Channel 9.

Another bumper crowd and electric atmosphere is expected at the first-class Redcliffe venue, which last year played host to an exceptional event.

More than 7200 fans witnessed the Norths Devils win their first Cup premiership since 1998 when the Nundah club edged out the Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

The Seagulls had earlier featured in an epic Hastings Deering Colts grand final, where they booted an extra-time field goal to win the title over a gallant Townsville Blackhawks.

The Hastings Deering Colts grand final will again be played before the Hostplus Cup decider.

Fans eager for a full day of entertainment can also watch some of Queensland’s best young talent in the boys and girls City v Country under 17 matches.

QRL chief executive officer Rohan Sawyer said it was shaping up to be an outstanding event.

“With four quality games of rugby league and some great family entertainment off the field, it really is going to be a wonderful event for our clubs, partners and fans to be involved in,” Sawyer said.

“Moreton Daily Stadium is the perfect venue to host a day like this, and you only have to look back at the scenes from last year to get excited about what the final Saturday of September is going to bring.”

Fans are encouraged to secure their seats early with tickets now available.

Tickets can be purchased from as little as $65 for a family of four and some attractive hospitality options are available as well.

Hospitality packages include the Shell V Power Civoniceva Lounge, or an afternoon from the Terrace overlooking the field with mates.

Along with the four quality games, there will be activities and entertainment for the entire family including the Shell V Power kick for cash, the Gatorade Bolt and McDonald’s sideline experience.

Families new to the region are also encouraged to check out the many sites and surroundings that the Moreton Bay region has to offer.
