State of Origin night is a special night for many families and rugby league fans - and not just because of the football.

Not only can kids stay up late to watch the game, there's always a favourite footy meal dished up as well as a special treat while everyone watches the game.

The current crop of Queensland Maroons have shared what they would cook - or order in - to feed their guests on Origin night.

Best Origin night footy meal?

Kurt Capewell

“For a good footy meal, I would have to have a barbecue. I would be cooking, so just throw on some steaks and some snags and maybe some Vegemite chops. Yes, put a bit of Vegemite on your lamp chops before you cook them people, thank me later."

Daly Cherry-Evans

"It might be stereotypical, but a pizza, garlic bread, and beer or soft drink - depending on how old you are."

Xavier Coates

"Pizza. You can’t go past pizza."

Lindsay Collins

"Dominos pizza. we always used to get it, even as we got older and I was 18, 19, 20, it was always over to a mate’s house and we’d order stacks of pizzas and sit there and watch it, just a classic for a Wednesday night."

Tom Dearden

“We did a cooking challenge (with the North Queensland Cowboys), but I don’t know if I can really cook. I think it would be pizza to be honest, or maybe some party pies or something like that."

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui

"Steak. You have to have a steak."

Thomas Flegler

"Steak and spaghetti."

Valentine Holmes

"I would order in. I would order in probably pizza and pasta, I like having pizza watching footy if I am not playing and that’s what I did when I was a kid a well, we’d get pizza usually on the Wednesday night."

Felise Kaufusi

"Pizza. Dominos. You’d order pizza and everyone is there watching and eating together."

Josh Papalii

"I just see food as food. Whatever is there, I’m not one to complain."

Kalyn Ponga

"Pizza is the go-to."

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow

“Probably order a couple of pizza boxes from Dominoes or something like that, just to watch the footy on a Wednesday night."
