Norths Devils have named Zac Wallwork as the head coach for their inaugural BMD Premiership team.
Wallwork has vast coaching experience, most recently with Devils BRL affiliate club West Brisbane Panthers and said he was excited to be a part of the club and to make the most of the new opportunity.
The club are hoping to be included in the BMD Premiership when expressions of interest to be part of next season are requested in early July.
The coaching team will also be bolstered by Deanne Turner, the trailblazing former Queensland representative and Jillaroo who was involved in mentoring and coaching the club's Harvey Norman Under 19s team earlier in 2022.
Turner brings a wealth of experience having played for Queensland, Australia, and in the All Stars team throughout her career, paving the way for the next generation.
Turner will oversee the women’s program at Norths and continue to mentor up-and-coming players in the Harvey Norman Under 19s and BMD Premiership squads.
Wallwork expressed his excitement at the opportunity to guide the senior statewide women's squad after receiving the appointment.
“Tapping into the potential of young players and seeing them succeed is what excites me most,” Wallwork said.
“This is a great opportunity for the club and for the team.
"There is a lot of buzz around it and the competition will continue to grow.”
This past season saw the Devils enter into the Harvey Norman Under 19s competition, building a strong foundation for the BMD Premiership open women’s team in 2023.
