Round 10 Week 1 preview: 50 for Christian as Cup hits Tully

The Hostplus Cup heads to Tully this weekend, with the Souths Logan Magpies and Northern Pride headlining a huge day of rugby league at the showgrounds.

The home of the Tully Tigers is hosting an old boys community day and have scheduled a full day of games from junior rugby league right up to the Cairns and Districts Rugby League senior matches.

Games kick off at 9.30am with under 6 teams taking to the field, while the A Grade match between Tully and Brothers kicks off at 6.20pm.

The Hostplus Cup match will start at 8pm, with the Hastings Deering Colts playing earlier in the evening at 4.40pm. 

All other Round 10 Hostplus Cup games will take place next weekend on June 4-June 5.

  • This will be the second Cup game played at Tully. In 2015, Souths Logan defeated Pride 17-8
  • Leading into this match, the Magpies have lost their past two games
  • Opponents the Northern Pride have lost two and drawn one of their past three games
  • While Pride won the last game played between these two sides, the Magpies won the previous two, and six of the past seven games
  • It's been a tough trot on the road for the Magpies in recent times, with the side losing four of their past five away games.
  • In milestone news, this is set to be the 50th Cup game for Pride fullback Julian Christian (main image) who moved to the club from the Ipswich Jets
