New club ready to take centre stage on Sunshine Coast

Next year will see a historical and exciting change on the Sunshine Coast.

It will be the first time in over 20 years a new club joins the Sunshine Coast Junior Rugby League.

The region has experienced a rapid population growth, and this has seen the need for development across the Sunshine Coast.

To support the future growth, Stockland Property Group and Sunshine Coast Council have worked with key stakeholders in sports to provide the first district-level sports facility for the Aura development, scoring major wins with the local netball, rugby league and cricket clubs.

Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson said the $6.5 million Nirimba Sports Complex - located approximately 12 kilometres south west of Caloundra - was a welcomed addition to the growing Aura community.

“There are a number of elements to this project which will provide significant benefits for the residents of the suburbs in the Aura development,” Jamieson said.

The focus has now turned to getting the Nirimba Rugby League club off the ground with one of the most important milestones coming up on Tuesday, November 23... the club's first official annual general meeting.

The new club will host teams in the under 6 to 9 year age groups in the local junior competition.

For the club to be able to field sides and be successful in this competition, they are on the lookout for members and office bearers to join the committee for the 2022 season.

If this sound like something of interest to those on the Sunshine Coast who are keen to join the new and exciting club, please attend the historic meeting on Tuesday, November 23.
