The Burleigh Bears recently announced the appointment of Scott Cooke as the club’s top tier coach for the 2022 season.
An experienced coach at various levels of the game, Cooke will take over the reins of Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons head coach Tahnee Norris who has been appointed to a fulltime role with the Queensland Rugby League.
In his new role, Cooke will be responsible for the planning, preparation and coaching of the senior women’s statewide competition team who this past season claimed the BHP Premiership title.
Cooke will also have involvement in all the club’s female pathways, including the Harvey Norman Under 19 Academy and other female development programs.
Burleigh Bears CEO Damian Driscoll welcomed the appointment.
“Scott has a long history with the Bears having played and coached (A Grade premiership) at the club and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position,” Driscoll said.
Cooke will be supported by Shane Gerrard who will be the club’s Harvey Norman Under 19 Girls coach in 2021.
Gerrard has been heavily involved in the female game for a number of years and comes into this role after helping to guide his Nerang Roosters under 18 girls team to a grand final win.
