Queensland Rugby League would like to remind all clubs using scaffolding towers to ensure these platforms are tested for stability on each game day prior to the arrival of participants and spectators.
These checks should also consider the weather conditions, noting high winds severely effect these platforms, particularly if screening or signage is attached to these structures.
This process of risk mitigation is outlined in the club risk register and is a part of the pre-game venue checklist located on QRL's Clubhouse.
An information sheet from Worksafe Australia is available here, which outlines some advice for managing the risks associated with tower and mobile scaffolds.
It is important to note even though these guidelines only mention structures over four metres tall require certification, local councils may still require an application for works to be submitted prior to erecting these platforms.
It's also important this is made a priority by all of clubs for the safety of all of participants and spectators.
