Round 12 Team of the Week: 'Wham bam, thank you Mam'

Souths Logan Magpies weapon Ezra Mam was on fire during his side's postponed Round 12 clash against Tweed Seagulls, earning himself Hastings Deering player of the match and skipper of the Round 12 Team of the Week. 

Each round, Queensland Rugby League recognises the 17 best performers and name the Intrust Super Cup Team of the Week. These team selections are based not only on statistical data, but also take on board live and broadcast viewings of the games, with the standout performer of the week named captain. 

Round 12 Team of the Week

1. Matiu Stone-Dunn - Mackay Cutters

The Cutters fullback was in fine form during the postponed Round 12 clash against PNG Hunters. Stone-Dunn scored two tries, clocked a huge 245 run metres, registered one line break, one line break assist and one try assist during his 80 minutes on the field. Northern Pride fullback Grant Anderson was also strong, scoring one try and kicking four from four conversions.

2. Junior Rau - PNG Hunters

The Hunters winger was unstoppable against the Cutters, scoring a hat-trick of tries in his 50th game. Rau also ran 112 metres, had three line breaks, two tackle breaks and made six tackles, missing none. Central Queensland Capras flyer Cooper Marshall was also strong with two tries, 75 run metres, two line breaks, one tackle break and nine tackles. 

3. Luke Burton - Tweed Seagulls

Given he is normally a forward, Seagulls centre Burton was solid during his 73 minutes on the field in Round 12. Burton scored two tries, clocked 131 run metres, had two line breaks, three tackle breaks and made 11 tackles. Sunshine Coast Falcons centre William Toloi was also strong with two tries, 112 run metres, one tackle break and eight tackles.

4. Brendon Gotuno - PNG Hunters

Gotuno was an impact player for the Hunters in Round 12. During his short 41 minutes on the field, he scored two tries, clocked 49 run metres, had two line breaks, one line break assist and one try assist. Dolphins centre Justin Worley was strong, kicking five from five conversions, clocking 112 run metres and he had six tackle breaks and made 19 tackles.

5. Nat McGavin - Sunshine Coast Falcons

McGavin was electric for the Falcons in Round 12, scoring three tries during an 12-minute period in the second half of their clash against Ipswich Jets. During his 70 minutes on the field, McGavin also clocked 119 run metres, had two line breaks, four tackle breaks and made five tackles, missing none. Mackay Cutters flyer Buchanan Rawhiti was also strong in Round 12.

6. Ezra Mam - Souths Logan Magpies (C)

'Wham bam, thank you Mam' were the words used most often during the broadcast of the Magpies clash against Tweed Seagulls. Mam scored 26 of the Magpies' 38 points with three tries, six conversions and a penalty goal. He also clocked 189 run metres, had one line break, one line break assist, one try assist and seven tackle breaks, earning himself the Hastings Deering player of the match honours.

7. Shallin Fuller - Burleigh Bears

The Bears halfback was instrumental in their win over Brisbane Tigers in Round 12. Fuller scored one try, clocked 126 run metres, had one try assist and made 18 tackles during his 75 minutes on the field. 

8. Lachlan Timm - Redcliffe Dolphins

Timm. What a player. The Dolphins prop registered the most tackles and the most run metres during his side's 30-24 win over Central Queensland Capras. Timm made 32 tackles, clocked 231 run metres, including 88 post-contact, and registered two tackle breaks. 

9. Pat Politoni - Burleigh Bears

The Bears hooker was in strong form against the Tigers. During his 43 minutes on the field, Politoni scored one try, had one line break and two tackle breaks, and made a huge 36 tackles, missing only one. Townsville Blackhawks hooker Josh Chudleigh also performed well in Round 12 with 90 run metres, one line break assist, one try assist, two tackle breaks and 33 tackles. 

10. Ross Bella - Mackay Cutters

The Cutters captain led from the front during his side's 40-30 win over PNG Hunters. Bella, during his 56 minutes on the field, scored two tries, registered 188 run metres, 87 kick return metres, one line break, nine tackle breaks and made 20 tackles, missing none. 

11. Josh Stuckey - Northern Pride 

Stuckey was a star during his side's big win over Wynnum Manly Seagulls at Pinklands Sports Complex. Stuckey, during his 51 minutes on the field, scored a hat-trick of tries, assisted in one, clocked 166 run metres, including 63 post-contact, and had one line break assist and eight tackle breaks.

12. Nixon Putt - Central Queensland Capras

Putt is a consistent performer for the Capras. In Round 12, he clocked the most run metres for his side with 211, including 69 post-contact. Putt also scored one try, had two line breaks, one try assist, seven tackle breaks and made 24 tackles. 

13. Rory Ferguson - Souths Logan Magpies

The Magpies lock was solid during his side's 38-28 win over Tweed Seagulls. Ferguson, during his 61 minutes on the field, clocked 187 run metres, including 76 post-contact. Ferguson also had one line break assist, one tackle break and made 23 tackles. Wynnum Manly Seagulls' Luke Bateman was also strong, making a huge 47 tackles.

14. Rashaun Denny - Norths Devils

The Devils gun scored two tries, adding to his total tally of seven tries in 13 games this season. In the win against Townsville Blackhawks in Round 12, Denny a;sp clocked 93 run metres, had one line break, one tackle break and made three tackles, missing none.

15. Matt Milson - Norths Devils

In his second game for new club North Devils, Milson was a strong performer in the fullback role, scoring one try and clocking a huge 201 run metres. During the game he also had one line break and made seven tackle breaks.

16. Luke Polselli - Sunshine Coast Falcons

Polselli clocked the most run metres and had the most line breaks for his side, with 197 and three respectively. Polselli also scored one try, assisted in three, had one line break assist and 11 tackle breaks.

17. Jack Campagnolo - Wynnum Manly Seagulls

The talented Seagulls playmaker was a standout for his side during their clash against Pride. Campagnolo kicked two from two conversions, clocked 118 run metres, had one line break, one line break assist, four tackle breaks and made 20 tackles.
