The wizardry of Latrell Mitchell propelled New South Wales to an Origin series victory with a 26-0 win over Queensland at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday night.
Blues winger Josh Addo-Carr scored a double as a confident and classy outfit ran freely around and through the Maroons, who were held scoreless for the first time on home turf.
Coach Brad Fittler and his players won't care where the last match of 2021 is held because they've wrapped up the series in two games after winning in Townsville two weeks ago.
The NRL is hoping to play the final game on July 14 at Stadium Australia but Sydney's COVID-19 lockdown until July 9 has forced officials to consider contingency plans such as Newcastle's McDonald Jones Stadium.
An 18-0 half-time lead put the writing on the wall for the series win for the Blues.
Mitchell had his fingerprints all over the first half. But the superb support play of Jarome Luai and Isaah Yeo combining with Panthers teammate Nathan Cleary was too much for the Maroons to handle.
And so was Mitchell. He stripped the ball off Kurt Capewell that led to Addo-Carr's first try in the next play, he pushed Valentine Holmes back into the in-goal to get a repeat set, and then he scored an 85-metre intercept try.
If that wasn't enough to sink Maroons spirits, Trbojevic scored his fourth try in two games of the 2021 series, his ninth in the Origin arena, when he scooted more than 60 metres.
He almost had another early in the second half if play hadn't been called back for Cameron Murray being offside. But a couple of minutes later and his right arm knocked the ball out of Xavier Coates hands to stop the Maroons scoring.
The Blues were first to score in the second half through a Nathan Cleary penalty (20-0), and try as they may, Queensland could not put a dent in the scoreboard.
After Coates missed out, Dane Gagai's right elbow scraping the dead-ball line, and Andrew McCullough being held up over the try line, snuffed out two more chances.
When Addo-Carr scored his second in the 69th minute, the champagne bottles were being lined up ready to open.
