Community rugby league clubs across Queensland are urged to take a #KneeforAckers this weekend to remember the late, great James 'Ackers' Ackerman.
Losing his life in 2015 playing the game he loved, the Sunshine Coast Falcons prop is honoured each year by teams across the state forming a circle and taking a knee to remember the fallen comrade.
Clubs in the Sunshine Coast / Gympie junior and senior leagues have paid tribute to their teammate throughout the month of May, but with anniversary of Ackerman's passing this Sunday, James' aunty Kaylene Hart encourages anyone and everyone to join the overwhelming number of people who pay their respects to her nephew.
"This Sunday, June 20, it will be six years since our hero ran the ball hard and straight for the last time," Hart, who manages the Support for Ackers #8 Facebook page, said.
"Thank you so much to all clubs who have taken a knee for Ackers so far.
"We have been completely overwhelmed with how much this grows every year.
"For anyone out there thatโs playing any form of sport this weekend, please get involved and help us remember Ackers and all those who have lost their lives playing the game we love.
"Take a minute to honour them and remember them."
Teams who are involved are encouraged to use the hashtag #KneeforAckers and can also submit photos to the Support for Ackers #8 Facebook page.
