The first combined Queensland Secondary Schools Rugby League state championships for 15 years and 18 years girls kicked off at Barlow Park in Cairns, with teams from across the state competing across four days.
The assembled teams are brimming with talent - with many featuring earlier this year in the Harvey Noman Under 19 competition.
State champions will be crowned on Sunday afternoon following a big four days of matches.
QSSRL chair Andrew Peach thanked the local organising committee, led by Peninsular Regional delegate Anthony Easton, for their efforts to co-ordinate the state championships.
As part of the state championships, the NRL will run education and wellbeing sessions for all players, while the QRL will take the opportunity to work with coaches and parents across the four days.
The QRL Referees will also use the opportunity to train and develop the next generation of match officials in Cairns.
