Part of Queensland's State of Origin series victory, Titans winger Phillip Sami describes the experience as "surreal".

The 23-year-old has returned to pre-season training and says he will be a better player after the Origin experience.

"It was definitely something that I’m very grateful to be a part of," Sami said.

"I didn’t think that I’d ever be in that arena.

"It’s crazy to think that I played two games in the series.

"I used to watch the game with my family, on a Wednesday night you’d have your pizza and watch the Origin.

"I’m very grateful to have that opportunity to represent my family’s last name there.

"It was definitely a surreal moment for me.

"There’s definitely a lot of lessons learnt from that series but I’m going to take that into this pre-season and hopefully I can implement that into my game."

During his off-season break, Sami and partner Chloe welcomed baby Velzy into the world in December.

“We’re a family of three now," he proudly says.

"It’s a new and different chapter for us but we’re looking forward to it together and I can’t wait to see him grow up.

"We had my girlfriend’s mum come over from Townsville (during the break) to meet the little man and he is definitely a bundle of joy."

Sami says despite 2020 being so positive, he has set a simple goal to achieve in 2021.

"(My goal) is just to be better than last year," he said.

"It was a big year for me, I had my bub, I played Origin, but my goal is just to be better than I was last year and to be the best I can.

“I did as much (training) as I could because obviously I had my bub come in the time of pre-season so I had to come in and do as much as I can and after we had bub I did a few sessions at a local field so I came back pretty good.

“I just couldn’t wait to get back here with the boys and train hard.

"It’s good to be back."
