The pathway for our region’s best junior players to reach the NRL is now clear, after the signing of a three-year agreement between the Titans and Rugby League Gold Coast (RLGC).
Following on from the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last year between the Titans and Group 18 Junior Rugby League, Group 1 Junior Rugby League, South Queensland & Border Districts Touch Football and South West Queensland Touch Football, RLGC have now extended their relationship with the Titans.
To reinforce the message that junior Gold Coast players are the “Titans of tomorrow”, all local representative teams will now wear Titans colours – presenting a united front for league across all levels across the community.
“This commitment to grassroots football across the region is one of the key foundation stones for the Titans’ future,” said Titans Executive Chairman Dennis Watt.
“Our Club was created to serve and support our community, but equally, it will not survive without support from the community.
“Now we are all working together for the betterment of rugby league in the area, to improve the opportunities for the NRL players and coaches of the future who can pursue their dreams from their own backyard and their own communities.
“To have the Gold Coast representative teams all now playing in Titans colours is a fantastic move, and illustrates the connection between the game’s grassroots and the elite NRL level.
“This is like a signpost for our development and pathway programs. Every junior will now be able to see a very clear path to the top level of the game. They can represent the Gold Coast every step of the way from junior level to the NRL with the Titans.”
Under the new agreement, the Titans will increase their investment in the RLGC to strengthen local competitions and development, with local players, parents and volunteers now able to engage in Titans experiences through the club’s extensive community programs.
“It’s really a continuation of the partnership with the Gold Coast Titans and they’ll now sponsor the apparel,” RLGC Chairman Peter Daley said.
“This agreement really makes it clearer for junior players to know that there is a pathway for all our juniors.
“It’s a great opportunity for players to stay at home knowing there is a genuine pathway here.
“It’s great that we have strengthened the partnership between the club and the junior league.”
As part of the new agreement, the Titans will also provide support through Titans Grassroots Memberships – with participants in any of the above programs able to sign-up as a social or ticketed member.
From these initiatives, a dollar amount will then be donated back to nominated clubs, to help with the continued development of our future NRL or touch football stars.
