The Sunshine Coast Falcons have announced Intrust Super Cup Second Rower of the Year Chris Lewis has signed a full-time development contract with Melbourne Storm.
Lewis has immediately relocated to Melbourne to take up the offer and completed his first week of full-time pre-season training last week with the Storm.
Lewis follows the same path previous Falcons players Nicho Hynes, Darryn Schonig, Tui Kamikamica, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Ryley Jacks have all followed, in primary signing and playing with the Falcons before being identified by the Storm and going on to sign full-time contracts with the Storm.
“We are thrilled that Chris has signed a full time development contract with the Melbourne Storm," Falcons CEO Chris Flannery said.
"He has worked hard over the past three years at the Falcons and thoroughly deserves this opportunity.
“Chris’ signing further enhances the success of the feeder team pathways that exists between the Melbourne Storm and the Falcons.
"Chris will join former Falcons players Nicho Hynes, Darryn Schonig, Tui Kamikamica, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Ryley Jacks in the full-time squad this year and we wish them all the very best for the 2020 season."
When not required by the Storm, Flannery said he anticipated Lewis would still return to play for the Falcons.
