Brodie Croft in action for the Junior Kangaroos.

The Brisbane Broncos have secured the signing of Junior Kangaroos halfback Brodie Croft on a three-year deal.

Croft was released by the Melbourne Storm on Friday, along with Canberra-bound centre Curtis Scott, with Brisbane signing the 22-year-old.

"We are bringing Brodie home to Queensland and giving him the opportunity to represent our club and the club he grew up supporting," Brisbane coach Anthony Seibold said.

"Brodie has performed at an elite level throughout the various stages of his development and even as recent as last month represented the Junior Kangaroos under-23s team.

"I believe Brodie is ready to step up as a leader and key position player at the Broncos after learning his craft in Melbourne. He experienced a Grand Final in 2018 and is at an age where he is ready to lead a team around the park.

"Brodie gives us depth in the halfback position and he, Anthony Milford and Tom Dearden are players we believe can have a strong influence in what we do in season 2020 and beyond."

Croft, who made his debut in 2016, played 39 games for Melbourne but lost his position as first-choice halfback late in the season to Jahrome Hughes.

It is understood Brisbane view him as an ideal senior halves partner to young gun Tom Dearden.

The Broncos will need to release a player from their 30-man squad to accommodate Croft's arrival and NRL.com has been told Gehamat Shibasaki could switch to Newcastle although neither club has made an official statement on that possibility.
