Relief as Pereira cleared of serious neck injury

Dragons winger Jordan Pereira has been discharged from hospital and cleared of any serious neck injury after an awkward landing that had the rugby league community holding its breath.
Pereira has undergone 48 hours of scans and assessment after landing heavily on his neck while scoring a try against Newtown in Canterbury Cup on Saturday.
St George Illawarra is optimistic the 26-year-old will make a full recovery but are yet to set any return date for Pereira, who has been diagnosed with damage to his brachial plexus - the nerve group which comes from the neck and supplies the arm with function and sensation.
"Jordan was released from hospital on [Monday] night," Dragons head of performance Nathan Pickworth said.
"Over the past couple of days, he's had a series of scans on his neck as well as his upper limb and he's been cleared of any serious neck injury.
"He's back home now, he's out of the neck brace and he's moving around okay at the moment."
Video of Pereira's stomach-churning landing was uploaded to social media by league legend and former Dragon Wendell Sailor, who was watching his son Tristan play in the 24-18 loss at Henson Park.
Pereira played 11 straight games for the Dragons to start the year, which included five tries in as many matches, before falling out of favour at the end of May.
