Townsville will host the Northern Region Junior Rugby League Championships for the first time at Brothers Leagues Club fields in Kirwan from June 7-9.
The event will see 27 teams and more than 600 players and coaching staff converge.
Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Northern Territory and NQ Country (comprising of players from Mt Isa, the Cape and Torres, Innisfail and Eacham) will be represented so it is shaping up to be a magnificent three days of footy action.
Referees and match officials from all across North Queensland and the Northern Territory will also be attending this great carnival.
“Brothers Leagues Club is a terrific venue to watch rugby league and regardless of whether you are on field one or four you are right near the action which will makes it great for spectators and supporters of rugby league," QRL Northern Region Manager Scott Nosworthy said.
With the North Queensland Cowboys playing Manly Sea Eagles in the NRL game on Saturday night and the Cowboys supplying tickets to the game for all the visiting teams, it should ensure the area in and around the stadium and Brothers Leagues Club will be packed over the weekend.
From this carnival, four Under 14 and Under 16 boys and girls teams will be selected to represent the QRL Northern Division at the State Junior Championships being held on the Sunshine Coast from July 4-7.
To access the draw for the weekend, go to the QRL Northern Region Facebook page or check out: www.nqrlcarnivals.sportingpulse.net and click on the Fixtures and Results tab.
