First round - Battle of The Gulf games in Normanton
There was plenty of great footy action during the first games in the Battle of The Gulf hosted by Normanton at John Henry Memorial Oval. In the final game of the cluster, Mornington Island defeated Normanton Stingers 4-0. The game between Mornington Island and Kowanyama Wallabies was tight and ended in a 6-6 draw with both teams putting in a huge defensive effort. Mornington Island also had an 18-14 win over Doomadgee Dragons. Kowanyama Wallabies defeated Burketown Roosters 30-6, while Normanton defeated Doomadgee 32-12. Photos: Andrew Tunney
