The Queensland Universities team has not been beaten for five years and applications to be a part of this year’s campaign will close this Friday.
The interstate match against NSW Universities will be played at noon on Saturday, May 11 at Langlands Park, the home of the Easts Tigers in Brisbane.
From this match, an Australian Universities team that will face New Zealand Universities in Fiji in October will be chosen.
To be eligible, players must be studying at a university, private college or with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
The Queensland Universities team will be coached by former Norths Devils Intrust Super Cup head coach Mark Gliddon, who will be assisted by Jody Barlow.
The team camp for the Queensland Universities team will start late afternoon on Tuesday, May 7 and will break on Sunday, May 12, following the entire team attending Suncorp Stadium for day 3 of the NRL’s Magic Round on Saturday night.
A financial commitment of between $500 and $700 will be levied on each player, but will cover the cost of all training and playing gear, strapping, meals, accommodation and the ticket to The Magic Round.
The Universities Rugby League Queensland encourages all eligible players to apply through the link below, and to alert any qualified parties of this opportunity.
