The Rockhampton and District Junior Rugby League are inviting all Under 14 teams to nominate for the 2019 Tackle6 Nines Charity Shield.
The carnival will be held at Victoria Park, Rockhampton on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 (the middle weekend of the Term 1 school holidays).
As announced last year, the carnival is set to enter a new chapter this season with an exciting partnership formed with Darumbal Community Youth Service’s Tackle6 program, led by former South Sydney Rabbitoh and CQ-local Jamie Simpson.
Founded in 2017, the program aims to use rugby league as a vehicle to address six major issues that hinder a student's ability to learn in a primary or high school setting and Simpson hopes to grow the initiative from the classroom to the footy field.
The carnival is open to all registered Under 14 boys and girls teams with games comprising of nine players a side over two nine-minute halves.
The games will again be played across two days; with all pool games played on the Saturday.
At the end of Day 1, teams will be ranked with the finals to be played on Sunday, including the Tackle6 Charity Shield decider between the top two ranked sides.
Nominations are now open and will close on Friday, March 29.
