Country music star Keith Urban donned a Queensland Maroons jersey as he wowed crowds at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre during his Graffitti U World Tour at the weekend.
The four-time Grammy Award winner, who grew up in Caboolture, has long been a Queensland Maroons fan; he helped pen an ode to the team as a teenager.
Queensland Maroons head coach Kevin Walters "heard on the grapevine" he was a massive fan, so organised with Champions The Sports Memorabilia Display Co director Kingsley Caesar to gift him the 2019 Queensland Maroons jersey.
"Every true Maroons fan should be decked out in the right gear," Walters said.
Walters, in a letter to Urban before the Brisbane concert, said "we trust that you will wear this jersey with pride ahead of the 2019 Origin series"; and wear it with pride he did, rocking out on stage.
Walters also extended an invitation to Urban to drop into Camp Maroon if he is around during State of Origin.
"It is once again shaping up to be another extremely challenging series, but it’s in the Queensland DNA to be ready for everything that comes our way," Walters said.
"And make no mistake, we'll be ready.
"We couldn’t take on such an enormous job without the support of our fans; and from Caboolture to Cairns, we’ve got the best in the land.
"Once again, thanks for getting behind our state and this group of hard-working and talented young men who wear the maroon colours with pride."
