The Mackay Cutters have announced the appointment of well-known Mackay local Maurie Fatnowna as their new Chief Executive Officer.
Fatnowna will commence in his new role with the club on January 9, 2019 replacing Troy Rovelli who resigned from the club earlier this month to take on the CEO role with rivalry club Norths Devils.
Chairperson of the Board Steve Dowden said that the club was in a strong position to take on the next phase of its development with Maurie at the helm.
"We’ve been very fortunate to have Troy at the club for the last 3 years – he has been an outstanding CEO and he’s really moved our club into a new dimension," Mr Dowden said.
"We’re delighted to have secured someone of Maurie’s standing to take over as CEO. He’s highly regarded in the Mackay community and he comes to the Cutters with extensive experience in not only the game of rugby league, but in business itself.
"Our club will continue to plan for the future and the stability and community commitment we pride ourselves in will continue and strengthen under Maurie’s leadership.”
Rovelli will remain in his role as CEO until early January.
