A key decision by the Toowoomba Rugby League board has brought much joy to passionate Bluebags fans in the Darling Downs.
Confirmed at a TRL Executive meeting on Monday, the green light was given to the Newtown Lions and former Border Rugby League side Texas Terriers to join Toowoomba's second division competition next season.
Speaking to The Chronicle, spokesperson Paul Dolley said it was a welcome return for the foundation club.
"The last few weeks has been a bit tough, it's been a long wait," Dolley said.
"The boys getting were getting a bit antsy wanting to know an answer but it's great to have got given the go-ahead.
"It was pretty sad to see it shut down a few years ago, but a few of the old boys and committee got together and were passionate about getting it all up and going.
"There's a lot of interest from old boys wanting to come back and play for the club and hopefully it is the start of something big that can roll on in the future years."
Whilst the decision is welcomed by many, both clubs will still need to prove financial viability and player numbers prior to the ironclad guarantee of inclusion being rubber stamped.
