Major Competitions Week 2 Finals update

After two stunning elimination finals – the combatants for Week 2 of the Intrust Super Cup series have been decided.

The always entertaining Ipswich Jets proved too hard for the Townsville Blackhawks to catch; while up in Cairns, the Pride were blown away by an unheralded Tigers side.

Next week’s Channel 9 TV game will see the Tigers host the Jets in their elimination semi-final at Langlands Park, Suzuki Stadium at the earlier time of 1.05pm.

Later on Saturday evening; the two powerhouse clubs of Redcliffe and Burleigh will play in their major semi-final at Dolphin Stadium, winner advancing straight to the grand final at Suncorp Stadium on September 23.

In the Hastings Deering Colts, the Victoria Thunderbolts (28-6 v Wynnum Manly Seagulls) and Northern Pride (24-16 over Souths Logan) held on to face another week after winning in Week 1 of the finals.

The Week 2 draw for the Under 20 competition which will feature a major semi-final between Townsville Blackhawks and Norths Devils will be finalised as soon as possible and posted on QRL.com.au
