Cairns & Innisfail District Junior Rugby League Under 12s teams finished off their 2018 season by playing in the Warren Pitt Cup in Cairns on the weekend.
There were 10 teams from as far afield as Mossman to the north, Mareeba to the west and Tully to the south that converged on Jones Park for the annual event.
The carnival is named in honour of rugby league stalwart Honourable Warren Pitt, and has evolved and developed from a School Under 11 competition to the current format as a club competition.
QRL Northern Region Assistant Manager Robbie Moore welcomed the teams and staff; thanking them for their contribution to the game throughout the year and outlining the aim of the carnival - fun and participation.
After four rounds, the top two teams, Redlynch and Ivanhoes, progressed to the final with the game running to extra time. However, in the end, it was the Redlynch club clinching the title of Warren Pitt Champions 2018.
The teams demonstrated great sportsmanship and camaraderie, coming together after the presentations for photos celebrating their season and the greatest game of all.
