The NRL has announced a number of initiatives to assist with drought relief during the 2018 NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series.
The main initiative will see the NRL donate $100 for every point scored during the Finals Series.
This will be matched by the Nine Network through its Nine Cares program.
"It means the drought relief program will receive $200 for every point scored during the finals," NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said.
Farmers affected by the drought will be offered free tickets to Weeks One and Two of the Finals Series
During the Finals Series, supporters will also be given the option when purchasing tickets to make a donation to the drought relief efforts with their ticket.
Mr Greenberg said he was proud of the support which the entire community of Rugby League had offered towards drought relief in recent weeks.
"The drought is having a devastating impact on rural and regional communities which are such an important part of Rugby League," Mr Greenberg said.
"Our aim has been to come up with some initiatives which will have a real impact and provide assistance where it is truly needed."
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said it was terrific to see the Rugby League community banding together to support drought relief measures.
"I encourage all Rugby League fans to get on board and let's hope we see an exciting Finals Series with lots of points scored," Ms Berejiklian said.
National Farmers Federation President Fiona Simson said donations from the Rugby League community would help farmers acquire fodder for livestock, replenish their farm and home water supplies and access health and financial services desperately needed.
"Rugby league is an enduring important part of the fabric of regional Queensland and New South Wales," Ms Simson said.
"Whether it's local footy or our national game, Rugby League provides a vital distraction for our farmers and their families from the pressures of drought.
"Footy gives our farmers the chance to take a break from feeding stock and other drought tasks and stresses to participate or take in the local weekend game and sit down with the family to support our favourite NRL teams."
Ms Simson added up to 99 percent of NSW and 57% of Queensland is drought declared.
"The National Farmers' Federation thanks the NRL and the football community for their support and generosity towards our farmers," she said.
Money raised through the initiatives will go to Rural Aid and the National Farmers Federation.
