It was a watershed moment that could well be the making of Daly Cherry-Evans as a representative player, and the Mackay product did not shy away from the fact he will face pressure again in the future.
Cherry-Evans was a topical inclusion in the Maroons team for Game III after three years out of the squad, coming to the fore with a leading hand in Queensland's 18-12 win against New South Wales.
Afterwards Cherry-Evans was praised by not only current teammates, but also former warhorse Shane Webcke, who took him aside for a personal message of encouragement.

Dressing shed interview: Daly Cherry-Evans
"I certainly understand the pressures of Origin and I'm in the No.7 jersey," Cherry-Evans said.
"I've obviously been axed before.
"It comes with the territory of being Queensland halfback.
"I knew that over the last three years I've gone away and learnt a lot.
"Having so long away from the Origin arena...to come back and answer the call of the Queensland fans to win a game and give them something to be proud of – I hope I did that."
