Runaway Bay Seagulls will host the Currumbin Eagles at Bycroft Oval on Saturday in the highlight match of Round 10 of the Rugby League Gold Coast QTOP A Grade competition.
Bay's run of injuries has continued to cause headaches for the Seagulls who will field a very different side to the one that lost 30-10 to the Eagles back in Round 4.
"Runaway Bay Seagulls started the season with high expectations and we needed to take a step back and change our attitude," Runaway Bay coach Nick Gleeson said.
Regular reserve grade players and under 19s have been called upon in recent weeks to complete the team and the result was a narrow 26-22 over the Burleigh Bears last week.
Despite missing key players Jake Powell and Jack Mackin, Gleeson is confident in the ability of the team he has named this week.
Currumbin Eagles, meanwhile, have played consistently well and are in no doubt that the attitude of the team will determine their level of success on the day.
"We have to make sure we are turning up with the right attitude to play one of the best teams in the competition; this will be our biggest test to date," Currumbin coach Ryan Gundry said.
The competition is close, and despite being the current ladder leaders, the Eagles acknowledge that all the teams are improving every week and they too need to lift their level.
"We are in a position where we can try different things. The players are fresh and enjoying the game," Gundry said.
At other grounds, the Bilambil Jets will take on the Tweed Heads Seagulls, Burleigh Bears will host Southport Tigers and the Tugun Seahawks will play the Ormeau Shearers.
