This year's Mendi Group Northern Division Junior Rugby League Championships carnival will have 35 teams participating with boys from Under 13s to under 16s and girls in Under 14s and Under 16s and more than 700 participants.
Again the entire North Queensland region will be represented with junior players coming from the Torres Strait Islands and Weipa in the north, to Mount Isa in the west and Sarina in the south for the event that kicks off on June 8-10.
Northern Territory are back for their second time and will be sending teams in the Under 14 and Under 16 Boys division and the Under 14 girls which is an exciting addition to the carnival again.
They also have some 16 girls playing for the Outback team.
Referees and match officials from all across North Queensland and the Northern Territory will also be attending this great carnival.
The carnival has grown so much that some games have had to be moved to Brothers Leagues Club again on the Saturday morning.
This is an exciting time for the game of rugby league in Northern Queensland.
From this carnival; four teams will be selected in Under 14 and Under 16 boys and girls to represent the QRL Northern Division at the State Junior Championships at Mackay from July 5-8.
Once again, the partnership between the QRL Northern Division and the Mendi Group who have stayed on as major partners for the 2018 will see the children attend the State Junior Carnival at a greatly reduced cost.
