The Queensland Universities team to play New South Wales Universities in Sydney next month has been selected.
Several players with Intrust Super Cup pedigree have been chosen to represent the student Maroons in Sydney on June 24.
To name just a few, Norths Devils' Dalton Phillips and Easts Tigers Brayden Torpy, Chris Ostwald and Harry Pondekas are all in the team.
Souths Logan half Lane Ferling has been chosen, as has Tweed Heads' pair Jayden Baker and Mackenzie Reid.
From this interstate match, an Australian Universities team will be chosen that will travel to South Africa in October.
Former Redcliffe Queensland Intrust Super Cup Cup mentor Gary O'Brien will take on coaching duties, with former Norths Devils' Cup coach Mark Gliddon and former NRL player Mark Tookey as his assistants.
O'Brien said he was pleased with the team that had been assembled.
"This is a strong side with some good young players and also some experience," O'Brien said.
"It is the goal of every Queensland team to beat NSW, but it is important to remember this match is a true selection trial for the national team.
"The better this team gels and plays on the day, the more representation Queensland will have in that Australian Universities side."
The Queensland Universities team, which is supported by the Queensland Rugby League, will go into camp in Brisbane on Wednesday, June 20.
They will be preparing to face NSW Universities at St Mary's Leagues Stadium at 1pm on Sunday, June 24.
