The Mendi Group QRL Northern Division Summer Camp is celebrating 31 years this year - and the upcoming instalment is set to be better than ever.

Kevin Walters, coach of the mighty Queensland Maroons, will be attending the opening on this year’s QRL Summer Camp; which will be held at JCU Western Campus Dining Room on Tuesday, December 12 at 1pm.

Walters will also be participating in a coaching program on the Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning with a select group of coaches from across North Queensland.

Former coach of the North Queensland Cowboys, and now the NRL Wellbeing and Education Manager for Queensland Murray Hurst will also be in attendance at the camp to present programs to the campers aimed at increasing their awareness of key societal issues.

The Townsville and District Mendi Blackhawks and the NQ Cowboys teams will again be offering their assistance to the camp and will have players come to visit during the duration of the four-day camp.

Thanks to the wonderful partnership formed between the Mendi Group and the QRL Northern Division; the cost of the camp has remained the same for three years for the campers, despite rising costs associated with it.

The camp caters for boys from 12 years to 18 years and is open to players of all abilities to learn rugby league skills and how to apply them.

There will be more 150 attendees at this year’s camp, with players coming from across North Queensland – from the Atherton Tablelands to Mackay and West to Mount Isa.

There are also two participants from Western Australia attending this year.

If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of; it is not too late to nominate for this wonderful event. For more information, contact the Northern Division Office on 4771 6166 or email k.winton@qrl.com.au.
