Toowoomba Junior Rugby League President Dan Aldons congratulated the players and coaching staff of the teams who qualified for the 2017 TJRL President’s Cup.

“Your hard work and commitment throughout Round 1 of our competition has paid off; congratulations to you all!” Aldons said.

The teams positioned first and second on the TJRL ladder play for the President’s Cup when they meet in the second round.

The first President’s Cup match was played on Saturday, June 17 at Dalby.

The Dalby Devils Under 12s managed to beat Highfields to secure the Merv Manteit Under 12 TJRL President’s Cup final.

The TJRL teams battled it out in a tense showdown, with Dalby coming away with a 38-6 win.

Elsewhere, on Saturday, July 29, the Dalby Devils will take on the Gatton Hawks for the Brad Steer Under 11/12 Development Cup President’s Cup Final, while the Brothers Leprechauns will face Highfields for the Ron Lindenberg Under 13 President’s Cup Final.

For now, there will be a three-week break from junior rugby league with the next matches being played on Saturday, 15 July.

The Toowoomba Junior Rugby League would like to thank all for their support during the past seven weeks and wish everyone a happy and safe holiday.

“Thanks must be given to all of those officials who have given up their time in the first half of our season – our match officials, first aid officers, coaches and managers,” Aldons said.
