The SEQ Women’s competition kicked off at the weekend, with Division 1 and Division 3 teams taking to the field.

At Purtell Park on Saturday, the Mt Gravatt Eagles proved too strong for a spirited Normanby Hounds outfit, securing an 18-4 win.

The Eagles went over for three early tries, with Rachelle Whelan converting the first try.

Things tightened up in the second half however with the Hounds lifting in defence. However, while they could stop one for try being scored early in the second half, they rally to cross for one of their own thanks to Sinead Kelley in the right-hand side of the field.

The competition will take a break this weekend (April 14-17) for Easter, with all three Divisions to return on April 22-23 for Round 2 fixtures.
