The annual Queensland Rugby League Murri Carnival is kicking off at Redcliffe’s Dolphin Oval later this week.
An initiative of the Arthur Beetson Foundation, the popular carnival sees talented footballers from across the state take part in the Under 15 Boys, Open Women’s and Open’s Men’s divisions.

The carnival will be held from Wednesday, September 21 to Saturday, September 24 with the grand finals to be played on Saturday afternoon.
As well as performing well for their teams, players also have the opportunity to be selected for representative honours, with places in the Under 15 / Under 16 Murri team up for grabs in the Boys Division.
The Under 15 / Under 16 Boys will represent the QRL as part of the Under 16 Queensland Murri side for the All Stars next season.
Selectors will also be keeping a watchful eye on the Women's games, with places in the NRL development squad for the Women's Indigenous All Stars team on offer.
The carnival is about much more than rugby league as it also has a major focus on health and education.
All players have to complete a “health check” as a requirement to participate and all Under 15s Boys participants must have a 90% school attendance rate. The carnival is also drug, alcohol, sugar and smoke free.
Ticket prices to attend are as follows:
$10 a day for adults
$5 with concession under 50
Free with concession for people aged 50 or over and children under 18 years of age
Rugby league fans can also buy a four-day pass for $30 to make sure they don’t miss any of the action.
The draw for the four-day tournament will be announced tonight (Tuesday, September 20) at the launch of the carnival and can be watched on League Nation Live on NITV.
In total, there are 45 teams from across the state taking part this year with 21 Open Men’s, 15 Under 15 Boys and nine Open Women’s teams registered to play.
