Queensland Rugby League Managing Director Rob Moore today confirmed Suncorp Stadium will host the 2016 Intrust Super Cup grand final.

“Suncorp Stadium is the home of the game in Queensland and given the growth of the Intrust Super Cup in recent years, we believe our showpiece match should be played at the best rugby league ground,” Moore said.

Moore said the game’s Pathways Review had been a key factor behind the growth of the Intrust Super Cup.

“We’ve seen increased funding and support for the State Leagues, along with the introduction of the NRL State Championship in 2014,” Moore said.

“The competition has gone to another level and as such we believe Suncorp Stadium is the natural fit for our grand final day.”

The 2016 Intrust Super Cup grand final will be held on Sunday, September 25. More details about the event will be released on QRL.com.au
