The Eastern Suburbs Tigers are pleased to announce the appointment of the club’s vice-president Brian Torpy as the new Chief Executive Officer.
His appointment results from the impending retirement of Des Morris.
Torpy is an experienced manager who has held senior financial managerial positions in infrastructure, government and event management businesses.
A former Tigers player, he has a strong background in rugby league on the field and as a coach, administrator and junior representative selector.
Easts Tigers chairman Keith Phillips said the club conducted an extensive search to find the right person and considered some outstanding candidates, both from within and outside the game.
The club was delighted that Torpy accepted the offer to replace Des Morris as CEO, following the Management Committee being presented with an outstanding list of candidates.
“Brian ticked all the boxes. The combination of his rugby league and professional background, in conjunction with his management and leadership experience, as well as his vision for the Club, made him the right man for the job,” Phillips said.
Torpy said he was honoured to be given the opportunity to lead such a proud and successful club.
“I would like to thank the club for the confidence they have shown in me, by providing me with this opportunity.
“I have a genuine love of the game and I will be endeavouring to ensure the Club’s success, both on and off the field.
“My goal will be to build on the club’s strong foundations and take the club to the next level.”
