It seems fitting that two undefeated teams meet in the Struddys Sports pre-season competition final on Saturday.

Redcliffe and Valleys went three-from-three in the regular rounds and will lock horns in the decider.

Dolphins coach Daniel Green said the pre-season tournament was an early goal for his squad.

“It’d be a good way to start our season and get the ball rolling,” he said.

“We’ve been trying to keep it nice and upbeat at training and it seems to be paying off.”

The boys from the Peninsula have the top attack (36.7 points score per game) and best defence (10.7 points conceded per game) and start as favourites after their clinical 40-0 shutout of Wynnum Manly Redland City last weekend.

Redcliffe were brutal in defence at Kougari Oval and will no doubt bring a similar mindset to this match.

However, Valleys have displayed plenty of fighting spirit themselves.

When the game was in the balance the club finished with a wet sail against West Brisbane, Normanby and Gaters.

Jake Cannon has been tireless at lock for the Diehards, who face their biggest challenge to date against a physical Redcliffe pack.

Green said the inclusion of clubs like Valleys and West Brisbane Panthers brought an element of tradition to the re-formed Brisbane Rugby League competition.

“It’s good for the older generations to see the clubs that they supported and played for as kids,” he said.

“It brings a bit of that history back into the game which I think is a good thing.

“A lot of people were starting to forget about that… it’s really good to get that culture back in the game.”

In the battle for third spot, Logan Brothers will be looking to extract revenge against Easts Tigers after an eight-point loss last weekend.

In the other three matches, sides will meet for the first time in the pre-season competition, providing the perfect preparation ahead of round one on April 11-12.
