QRL has today confirmed a change to the Intrust Super Cup’s Channel 9 programming for this weekend.

The Round 3 match between Tweed Heads Seagulls and Norths Devils will now be the live television game, instead of the Northern Pride v Townsville Blackhawks clash as originally scheduled.

“The current weather events in the Far North have forced our hand, along with the extensive broadcast logistics that need to be activated now,” QRL competitions co-ordinator Chris Rushton said today.

“We believe that it’s in everyone’s best interests that we make an early call now and transfer the television match to a different ground.”

The QRL is monitoring the weather situation and will continue to liaise with the Northern Pride and Townsville Blackhawks before any decision is made on the status of that game.

“We’re currently looking at a number of options,” Rushton said.

“At this point, we’re still hopeful it can go ahead at Barlow Park. But it is too early yet to make a call and we also have to ensure that the safety of our players and their families is paramount.”
