SARNIA’S Ray Edwards Oval will host a festival of football on Saturday, February 14.
Heading the lineup will be a trial game between the Mackay Cutters and CQ Capras which will have extra incentive with the local rivals only due to meet once in the regular season this year.
This will be the Mackay Cutters final pre-season trial match and they will be looking to field a full-strength team for their final hit out before the 2015 Intrust Super Cup season begins; so fans can expect a high quality match against their traditional rivals.
These local derbies are always close games with plenty of feeling between the two teams and there will be added interest with former Cutters premiership halfback Matt Minto now back “home” at the Capras.
Sarnia’s A Grade side will play a CQ Capras Under 20 side in a curtain raiser to the main game, while earlier in the day, the Cutters Under 16 and Under 18 sides will play trials against their Rockhampton counterparts.
Sarina A Grade head coach and football manager Alan Kilshaw said the club was excited by the opportunity to host the games.
”We are obviously delighted to have secured such a high profile trial game at Sarina, this won't only benefit the football club, but the community of Sarina as a whole.
“We can't thank (CEO) Ross Aldridge and the Mackay Cutters enough for giving us this opportunity to host the games.”
There will be plenty of activities throughout the day at the grounds including the JFA footy academy running coaching clinics for juniors and there inflatable football arena will be on site for kids for the duration of the day.
After match presentations will be held at the Sarina Leagues club who are sponsoring the event.
Admission for the games will be $5.
